Psych Evaluation
The Psychosocial Evaluation is helpful to Dr Maguire, Dr Teel and their staff in managing each patients post-operative follow-up care and is part of their required pre-operative testing. Please call our office for a list of psychologist whom we recommend. (937) 208-5300
If you want to use your own psychologist, that would be alright. We do ask that the following tests be included in addition to the interview.
- The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory
- This test provides a general personality profile.
- The Shipley Scale. This test provides an estimate of intelligence.
- The Beck Inventory Depression.
Subjects to be included in the evaluation:
- Your reasons for wanting surgery.
- Your understanding of obesity and how it affects health.
- Attitude about physical activity.
- Mental status.
- Marital history and current social support.
- History of being overweight.
- History of weight loss.
- Family history.
- Your use of alcohol or drugs.
